A Very Warm Adriatic Sea, Even in March

I spend my long winter holidays in Montesilvano Marina on the Adriatic Sea. My favorite thing to do all the year round is to walk by the sea. In summer, I enjoy walking barefooted in shallow water, but not in winter, of course! Today, I was amused to see a gentleman who was walking in the water and was obviously very happy. When he noticed that I was taking photo of him, he raised hands in greeting.

He told me that he water is not as cold as it seems to be. “Our sea is so small, like a swimming pool, so in winter the temperature is no less than +14 and in summer – no more than +28.” I should add that today the air temperature was only +10.

  1. Appreciating the persistence you put into your site and detailed information you provide. It’s good to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same old rehashed information. Fantastic read! I’ve bookmarked your site and I’m including your RSS feeds to my Google account.
