A Bird’s-Eye View of the Scanno Lake
High above the Scanno Lake (1260 m above sea level) there is situated a very interesting district of the borough of Scanno. In order to get there we drove about a quarter of an hour along a narrow serpentine road. The main reason for visiting the place was to observe a magnificent panorama of the Scanno Lake.
The place had got its name after an Italian word “frattura” which means cleft and origins to a prehistoric cataclysm when a gigantic landslide from the Genzana Mountain had blocked the Sagittario River creating the Scanno Lake.
