The Adriatic Coast
Most of all I love the Adriatic Sea for endless golden sandy beaches. It’s a real pleasure to walk along the seaside at any season, even in winter. Abruzzo disposes 133 km of splendid beaches; some of them have been awarded by the “Blue Flag” for pure water. In many places the coastline is surrounded by evergreen pinewoods (pineta). Thick pines give pleasant cool in summer and protect from strong wind in winter. Along the seaside runs a cycle path which is included into the Green Adriatic Corridor (Corridoio Verde Adriatico). The latter stretches for 1000 km and goes through 5 Italian regions connecting Ravenna (Emilia-Romania) with Santa Maria di Leuca (Apulia).
